General Boss Strategy

The universal playbook for every boss in One More Delve.

Last updated:

Every boss in One More Delve has unique attack patterns, but they share a common tactical framework. This guide covers the universal principles that apply to all boss fights, regardless of which dungeon level you are tackling.

The Universal Boss Loop

Boss encounters follow a predictable structure:

Phase 1: Opening Burst (0–20% health)

The boss starts with a brief intro animation. Use this window for maximum damage:

  • Cast your full mana pool immediately.
  • Do not hold back — the mana is useless if you die.
  • Melee players should close distance and start swinging.

Phase 2: Sustained Combat (20–80% health)

The main body of the fight. The boss cycles through attack patterns with windows of vulnerability between combos.

Key tactics:

  • Count the boss’s attack combo. Most bosses have a 3–5 attack combo.
  • After the final attack, the boss is vulnerable for 2–3 seconds.
  • Do not overcommit. If you are mid-swing when the boss starts attacking again, you cannot block.
  • Keep your shield up during the boss’s active attack phase.

Phase 3: Final Push (80–100% health)

Many bosses spawn additional enemies at low health. Do not ignore these adds:

  • In solo: prioritize adds that are closest to you. Let the boss tank itself.
  • In co-op: one player handles adds while the other continues boss damage.

Positioning

Never stand still during a boss fight. The most common death cause is being cornered against a wall. Keep the boss between you and the room’s center. Maintain enough space to sidestep every attack.

Co-op Specific Notes

In three-player groups:

  • Tank holds front and baits the boss’s attacks.
  • DPS stays behind the boss for backstab bonuses where applicable.
  • Mage handles adds and provides burst during tank’s cooldown windows.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about One More Delve.

Should I use all my potions during a boss fight?

Save at least one potion for emergencies. Boss fights can turn quickly — having a safety net is more valuable than having an empty belt at the end.

Is parrying effective on all boss attacks?

Most boss attacks can be parried with a shield, but some heavier attacks may still deal partial damage even through a successful parry. The May 2026 parry rework significantly improved parry windows.

What is the hardest boss in One More Delve?

The Dungeon 5 boss on high difficulty settings is the hardest encounter in the game as of the 1.0 release. Dungeon 4 boss is the hardest in standard difficulty. Community rankings are being compiled on the individual boss pages.
