Mana Management

Get the most out of your magic system without running dry mid-fight.

Last updated:

Mana is the only limiting resource for spell casting in One More Delve. Unlike weapons that have unlimited uses, your spells are gated by how much mana you have available and how quickly it regenerates. Understanding the mana economy is the difference between running out of steam halfway through a dungeon and managing a full run effectively.

How Mana Works

Your mana pool is shared across both hands. Each spell cast draws from this pool. When the pool is empty, spell casting is disabled until mana regenerates.

Mana regenerates passively over time. There are no mana potions, no items that restore mana, and no talents or upgrades that affect mana capacity or regeneration rate (as of the 1.0 release).

Estimated Regeneration Rate

ATVR has not published official mana regeneration values. Based on community testing:

  • Full mana pool regeneration takes approximately 15–20 seconds of not casting.
  • Partial regeneration (enough for 1–2 casts) takes approximately 5–8 seconds.

These are approximate values and will be updated as community testing provides better data.

Optimal Spell Usage

Open With Burst

Cast your full mana pool at the start of every boss fight. This is the highest-value use of mana because:

  • Bosses have the most health and represent the longest combat encounters.
  • Bursting a boss down quickly reduces the total time you are exposed to damage.
  • Your melee weapon can sustain damage indefinitely while mana regenerates.

Do Not Spam on Mooks

For regular enemies that will die in 2–3 melee swings, save your mana. A sword swing costs nothing and will kill them just as quickly.

Reserve for Emergencies

Keep enough mana for one or two casts in reserve. If you get cornered or overwhelmed, having that reserve can save you from death without needing to retreat.

Solo vs Co-op Mana Strategy

Solo: You are your only damage source. Be more conservative with mana. Use it for bosses and dangerous enemies, not trash packs.

Co-op: Coordinate with your mage. If another player is handling trash with melee, save your mana for priority targets.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about One More Delve.

Is there a way to increase my mana pool?

As of the 1.0 release, there is no known upgrade, item, or talent that increases mana pool size or regeneration rate. Your mana capacity appears to be fixed.

Can I buy mana potions in the hub shop?

The hub shop sells health potions and new spell types, but not mana restoration. The only way to restore mana is to stop casting and wait for passive regeneration.

Does the spell type affect mana consumption?

Fire and lightning spells appear to consume similar amounts of mana per cast. The Dungeon Level 4 update added 2 new spells, whose mana costs are still being tested by the community.
