Dungeon 4 Boss

Two new bosses — the Shadow Knight and the Flame Demon — with new mechanics.

Last updated:

Dungeon 4 introduced two new bosses with mechanics that depart significantly from earlier dungeon bosses. Both fights require adapted strategies beyond the standard melee approach.

Boss 1: Shadow Knight

The Shadow Knight is a fast, mobile boss that attacks from unexpected angles.

Key Mechanic: Phase Shift

The Shadow Knight becomes invisible periodically, teleporting behind the player. This creates opening attacks that deal significant damage if not anticipated.

Strategy

  • Listen for the audio cue (a distinctive whoosh sound) that precedes each phase shift.
  • When you hear the cue, spin and face the direction you were last moving — the Shadow Knight always teleports to a position directly behind the player.
  • Do not stop moving during the phase shift sequence.
  • Keep the boss in front of you at all times.

Boss 2: Flame Demon

The Flame Demon fills portions of the arena with persistent fire zones.

Key Mechanic: Fire Zones

The Flame Demon slams the ground, creating fire zones that last approximately 10 seconds. Standing in fire deals continuous burning damage.

Strategy

  • Never stop moving. This fight is won through constant repositioning.
  • Create a mental map of fire zone placement. In later phases, the arena becomes increasingly segmented by fire zones.
  • The Flame Demon is vulnerable during the animation of creating fire zones — this is the safest window for damage.
  • In co-op, spread out to avoid clustering in small safe zones.

Loot

Both Dungeon 4 bosses guarantee Epic-tier blueprints. This is the primary source of endgame gear for players not running Nightmare difficulty in Dungeon 5.
