Your First Dungeon Run

Everything you need to know before stepping through your first portal.

Last updated:

Your first session in One More Delve starts in the social hub, a safe zone where you can practice, craft, and meet other players before entering a dungeon. Here is what to expect and how to approach your first run.

Starting in the Hub

You spawn in the social hub with a basic loadout:

  • Basic longsword on your right waist holster
  • Small shield on your left waist holster
  • Bow on your back (shoulder slot)
  • A pickaxe and health potions on your belt
  • A fire spell on your right hand
  • A lightning spell on your left hand

The hub is where you craft, equip, and interact with other players. Before your first dungeon, take a moment to practice swinging your sword at the practice target in the hub.

Activating Your First Dungeon

Walk to the dungeon portal in the hub. There are multiple portal types corresponding to different dungeon levels. Start with Dungeon Level 1 — the portals are clearly marked. Walk through the portal to enter.

Inside Dungeon 1

The tutorial in One More Delve is intentionally minimal — message boards at the start explain movement and turning, but nothing else. This is the most cited weakness of the Early Access tutorial.

Key things to know immediately:

Weapon Holsters

  • Your sword and shield are at your waist — reach for them and squeeze the grip trigger to pick them up.
  • Your bow is on your shoulder — reach over your shoulder and grip to draw it.
  • Spells are already equipped on each hand.

Mining

Smash crates and mine glowing crystals with your pickaxe. Crystals are your primary crafting material. Collect everything.

Combat

The first enemies you encounter are slow and easy. Practice your swing timing. Full swings deal damage; half-swings may not. Shield up when enemies attack.

How to Exit

If you need to exit, find the portal you entered through — it remains open. Walk back through it to return to the hub.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about One More Delve.

Can I invite friends to my dungeon run?

Yes. From the social hub, use the party system to invite friends to your session, then enter the portal together. Online co-op supports up to three players.

What happens if I die on my first run?

You are returned to the social hub with your equipped gear. Any loot you were carrying is lost. Crafted items and banked materials are safe.

Should I mine everything or focus on enemies?

Mine everything. Crystals are your primary crafting resource and early-game material scarcity is a real bottleneck. Smashing crates also drops coins you can use at the hub shop.
